P for PETA
What is PETA? What do they do?
PETA is shorthand for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
It is so far the largest animal rights organization in the world. It focuses on four areas that the greatest
numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time:
Factory Farms
Clothing Trade
Laboratories
Entertainment Industry
PETA also works on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds,
and other so-called "pests", as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. It works through public education, cruelty investigations, animal rescue, special events, protest campaigns, and celebrity involvement.
These efforts are usually recognized as one of the most representative
and effective way of social activism.

On its official website, there are different sections (videos, activities, monthly blogs, yearly review, etc.) that
not only shows PETA members' diverse involvement but more importantly,
display various degrees of social activism. Some of the videos are
documentations of animal rescue or protest campaign.
Many other videos are designed for raising awareness.
PETA is also well known for its shocking, creative, yet persuasive campaign posters. In the past year, it has successfully raised around 150 campaigns around the world in helping animals.
