THE VEGAN COWBOY
Howard Lyman is known by many as the "Mad Cowboy," (madcowboy.com).
He is a former cattle rancher-turned vegan and food safety activist.
In 1996, he appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, sparking the infamous "Veggie Libel" case
brought on by Texas ranchers.
His appearance on the show has really initiated his campaign in food safety, especially the safety of meats.
He has involved in multiple activities:
Lyman is the author of Mad Cowboy: Plain Truth from the Cattle Rancher Who Won't Eat Meat. He is the former Director of the "Beyond Beef Campaign" and the Humane Society of the United States' "Eating with Conscience Campaign", past President of both the International Vegetarian Union, and EarthSave International.
He is currently President of Voice for a Viable Future.
Lyman travels over 100,000 miles every year delivering lectures and speeches to raise awareness.
The page image above shows the poster of one of his famous speech, Nature Does Not Negotiate.
Many of his speech and lecture are given out with no entry fee. Lyman hopes that more people
can come, participate and be aware of the issue right now by the free entry.
As a social activist, Lyman also organizes multiple activities through his madcowboy.com to addresss to not only
the food safety but also the ethnicity of animals in food industry. There are also several short films and advertisements under construction, which might provide new means of spreading his statement in animal rights and food safety.
